We are pleased to be offering the contents of

a prominent family who resided in this late 19th century mansion for decades.

The sale includes high quality objects and will feature a

diverse selection of items.

Artwork, Sterling silver and Silver plate, Antique Furniture.

Chickering Grand Player piano. A very large selection of

Oriental carpets- Various sizes, styles, patterns and

palettes- Spanning late 19thcentury through 20th century.

Asian porcelain, figures and prints. Cloisonne and Cinnabar. An immense

collection of ephemera discovered in steamer trunks in the

attic with more to be uncovered. So far- early photographs,

postcards, books, magazines, scrapbooks,etc.

 

HIGHLIGHTS

 

An important large Undiscovered Illustration by George Wharton Edwards. A.N.A. (1859-1950). Connecticut.

Winter scene with horse and figure on sled by a covered bridge. Oil on canvas. Signed and copyrighted lower right. Cornwall Covered Bridge over the Housatonic River in Litchfield County, Connecticut.

George Wharton Edwards. A well listed artist who painted both in New England and also in Europe.

An associate of The National Academy, Illustrator and writer for Harpers Magazine, Art Director of Colliers Magazine. A member of the Cos Cob Art Colony and the Greenwich Society of Artists. He was awarded prizes for his Art in both the United States and in Europe

SIGHT SIZE: 35-1/2” X 45”.

* Antique tavern table with oval top and splay legs.  Antique Tavern table with one drawer, shaped skirt and breadboard end top.

* A very large and varied assortment of Oriental carpets. Including Antique Roomsize Bidjars and other antique rugs. As well as later and more contemporary rugs. Photos of these will be available closer to sale time as we find space to spread them out and take better photos. The rugs are in all sizes including Roomsize, Scatters and Runners. Over thirty rugs!!!

 

*Other Antiques including sideboard, sofa table, carved chests,

drop leaf tables, slant lid desks, card tables, bird cage tip

table, chairs and other pieces.

 

*A beautiful mahogany banded inlay double pedestal dining

table with 6  Chippendale dining chairs made by Council. Several other sets of chairs. 

 

*Sterling silver including two flatware sets and many nice

serving pieces, bowls and plates.  Lots of quality silver-plate including an etched fish set.

 

*Ephemera- Much of it had been stored in the trunks in the attic for decades. We have found awesome Post Card albums, Stereo view cards, Old Photographs, Hand written notes, Documents. Pre Civil War era diary. Two antique framed land deeds- Dated 1714 and 1725. Tons more.

 

*Many fine decorative mirrors many with gilt trim and many sizes and styles.

 

*Several nicely upholstered and some contemporary leather  pieces including sofas, recamier, sectionals, occasional chairs, wing chairs … Also coffee and end

tables, bedroom furniture, lighted display cabinets etc.

 

*Lamps of all kinds including Handel reverse painted lamp, Pair of crystal lamps, Chapman brass chandelier and several other varied decorative lamps.

 

* China and Crystal including Copenhagen, Noritake, Louis, Waterford crystal etc.

 

*Collectibles including Inuit soapstone figures, Déco

porcelain Erte style figures, Lladro, Paperweights, Art Pottery,

Pipes, Herend, Llladro.

 

*Kitchen featuring two fully stocked pantry’s. Kitchenware,

Small appliances, Barware and Serving pieces. Pantry items will be relocated to the garage.

 

*Attic will be open and is loaded with treasures. Steamer

trunks with cruise line labels, vintage luggage, Victorian

*Garage will include tools, garden items and beautiful

potted plants. Both Pantries (contents) will be relocated to the garage as well.
